This shaft is the lower section of a composite monument. It is columnar and divided into four horizontal registers by encircling bands with prominently raised rims. here are 7 arcaded bays in each register, each centred between the two bays above and below with additional ornament in the spandrels. The little detail that now remains shows it to have depicted Biblical scenes, and the sculptor was clearly aware of trends in Carolingian Europe. It is a product of the Uredale master.
