More information : SE 1961 9922: St Ann's Chapel (NR) (Remains of) (NAT). Colburn Hall (NR) (1) Colburn Hall, medieval hall on site of Saxon hall, 'T' plan, built of rubble with slate stones, altered in 1662; now a farm. Grade 2*. Barn at Colburn Hall, late 13th to early 14th century building, 39 feet x 23 feet, built of rubble with stone slates. Mistakenly described as a chapel, probably a justice hall for the lord of the manor or a tithe barn. No mention has been found of a chapel at Colburn. Grade 1. (2-3) The tradition of a chapel probably stems from an 'ecclesiastical- type' window in the south gable of an otherwise plain building, see photographs. A datestone confirms the alteration date of the hall, which is in good condition. See photograph. (4)
