More information : [SE 1164 4781] Three cross-shafts are now standing in the churchyard of Ilkley Church; they vary in length from 54 to 100 inches. on the tallest shaft was affixed, in 1914, a crosshead (fig. q.r.s) until recently preserved in the grounds of Middleton Lodge. The upper stone of this crosshead was found in the R. Wharfe in 1884. Four other cross fragments, which were in Ilkley Church in 1884, are now in Ilkley Museum. (fig. a-h) One of these fragments (fig. p) is possibly part of the cross-shaft [Yorks 169 SW 11] discovered in cottages nearby. SE 14 NW 33. (1)
