St. Andrew's Church dates from the Decorated period. Several fragments of Anglo Saxon cross heads and shafts of 10th cent. date, found during the restoration of the building in 1901, are preserved. [See AO/55/93/4 & 5]. (2-4)
In normal use. The cross fragments are on display in the north aisle. (5)
A Church of St. Andrew 'The Land Kirk of Craven' Parish Church. C.14 and C.15 Church of nave chancel and full length aisles. No chancel arch. Western tower. arose of nave arcade from West 4 clustered of quatrefoil section with ball caps, one square section pier chamfered with half-round shafts in east and west faces, next a hexagonal pier, next another square pier with half columns. The chancel has three hexagonal piers. The priests door has a debased ogee head. The Western tower has an embattled parapet in corbels. The windows are mainly square headed, some having been cut down when a lower aisle roof was put on. Altar tomb with C. 14 effigy in good condition of Wm. de Styveton (Steeton) with shield with three fusils fess wise. Much old woodwork higgledy piggledy with modern work and restoration. Screen to south chancel very food with cresting, enriched cornice, tracery and linenfold panels. (6)
