More information : [TR 39896788] York Gate (NR) (1) York Gate, Harbour Street, Broadstairs was built c.1540, repaired in 1795. (2) The original York gate was of Kentish rag but it has been repaired in brick and knapped flint. Inscribed stones give the date of building, 1540, and date of repair, 1795. GP AO/63/121/A : gate from SE. (3) The York Gate, Harbour Street, Broadstairs. Grade II. Built about 1540 repaired in 1795. (For full description see list). (4) York Gate, an arch not a gate, basically medieval, with a portcullis groove. (5)
