More information : TR 22504662. Wootton Court, a former country mansion now destroyed, formed part of the lands of Christ Church. It appears to have been designed as a secular house and was in existence at least as early as 1170. The house was redesigned on a "grand scale" by John Plaw in 1790. It was recased in flint and hard brick in 1876 by George Joseph Murray. It was used as a school until 1939. In 1952 everything was demolished except the stable block. The plan (see illustration card) is based on a "photographic boyhood memory". Further architectural details are provided. (1)
