Summary : Iron Age round cairn surviving as an earthwork. Excavated.
More information : [SD 90485736] TUMULUS [O.E.] (1)

An I.A. Barrow, opened c.1890, contained a single skeleton
buried with an iron spearhead. (2)

Published survey (25") correct. An unditched, and turf-covered
bowl barrow, 1m high, elongated by strip ploughing.
The present whereabouts of the spearhead could not be ascertained. (3)

Airton. Listed by Challis and Harding as possible first
millennium BC Burial. (4)

SE 9048 5735. Lower Colgarth Hill round cairn. Scheduled RSM No
24511 (formerly SAM 1079). (5)
