More information : [SD 9650 1694] Cross base, of which only half remains, near the lower junction of the packhorse road with the Roman road, on Blackstone Edge. [Sited from map.] (1) The remaining portion of this probable socket stone is embedded in the ground at SD 9652 1692. It is irregular in shape, 0.2 m. thick, and 1.2 m. at the widest part. One corner of the stone appears to be chamfered. The complete socket would measure approximately 0.3 m. square. See G.P. AO/61/98/5 for the remains of the socket stone. (2) Could not be re-located at time of visit. (3)
