Summary : A Bronze Age bowl barrow discovered in the 1970s during the clearing of undergrowth in the replanted Nelson Plantation, near Rempstone stone circle (SY 98 SE 4). In 1980, Leslie Grinsell and L Keen recorded it as being 5 feet high and 16 paces in diameter. RCHME field investigation in 1986 was unable to locate the barrow, which lies within a dense conifer plantation. |
More information : A previously unrecorded barrow at SY 99538221 has been located by Major D C D Ryder of Rempstone as the result of clearing undergrowth in the replanted Nelson plantation opposite the Rempstone stone circle. (SY 98 SE 4). (1) SY 99538221. Corfe Castle 30. Bowl barrow listed, height 5ft diameter 16 paces. Visited by Grinsell and L Keen 26th June 1980. (2) This feature lies in a dense conifer plantation and was not located. (3)
