Monument Number 45526

Hob Uid: 45526
Location :
North Yorkshire
Craven
Hellifield
Grid Ref : SD8660053400
Summary : An Iron Age oval enclosure, probably a pastoral enclosure of Iron Age date.
More information : [SD 867534] Ancient Earthwork [T.I] (1)

An oval ditched enclosure, probably a sheep or cattle fold. (2)

The ill-defined remains of a banked and ditched, non-defensive enclosure have been resurveyed at 1/2500.

Its irregular form, and poor state of preservation suggest its possible classification as an I.A. fold. (3)

Listed by Challis and Harding as an irregular oval banked and ditched non-defensive earthwork (Iron Age). (4)
