More information : (Area SY 689910) Eglesham Meadow. Here in the thirties or early forties soil was carted away to level the south side of the meadow and to make the Stratton Road. During the digging two fine palstaves and a pair of heavy bronze bracelets were found. Mens bones were found with them, it is believed. These bronzes are in the museum. (1). Neither the owners nor the tenants of the land knew the field
indicated as Englesham Meadows. Tithe maps were of no assistance.
The field is grass covered and lies in a near flood-plain. (4)
