About a yard below the original surface an urn containing ashes and fragments of partially burnt bones was found; it was of course material and unornamented. Visited 1932. No remains of a stone circle but the site is occupied by the remains of a barrow 30 feet in diameter and barely 1 foot in height. SD 8911 3259. Round cairn on Hameldon Pasture. Scheduled RSM No 23722. A circular mound of earth and stones 13m in diameter and up to 0.3m high. There are some shallow hollows on the cairn's surface, the largest at the centre measures approx. 2.5m x 1.5m x 0.3m deep. These are the result of Studley Martin's investigation of the cairn in 1843, which located an undecorated urn containing the cremated remains of an adult and a child, in a cist at the cairn's centre.
