Summary : Lych gate built in 1603 and extensively restored in 1899. Built of rendered rubble with a hipped slate roof. There are stepped stone seats against the left-hand wall.
More information : (SX 85626875) Lych Gate (NAT). (1) The old village stocks are in the church porch; to reach which one must pass through an early 17th century lychgate. (2) A plaque on the Lych Gate states that it was restored in 1899. While the actual gates and the slate roof are modern, the cob side walls are probably of considerable age. Each wall is 2.5m. long, 2.3m. high, nd 0.6m. thick. A large transverse beam across the top of the gate has the inscription "FEARE GOD TR 1603 SR HONOUR YE KING SY." The remains of this gate are in good condition, and sited at SX 85626874. See G.P. 52/88/8. (3) GP. 52/88/8. The Lychgate from the east. (4) Lych gate, listed grade II. (5)
