SD 7084 3730. Bowl barrow 170m NE of Hacking Boat House. Scheduled RSM No 23712. A bowl barrow located on the flood plain of the River Ribble, comprising an oval earthen mound up to 6m high with max dimensions of 44m NNW-SSE x 35m SSW-NNE. Limited antiquarian investigation on part of the monument's summit in 1894 failed to locate any archaeological deposits. Similar excavations on another simlar mound to the N of this example (SD 73 NW 3) did, however, locate burial remains. It is considered that the works on this site simply missed or failed to identify the archaeological remains. (4)
