Summary : A disturbed cairn and cist on the gently sloping N flank of Little Gnats Head. The cairn measures 7.8m N to S by 7.7m and largely buried stones in the N margin are suggestive of a retaining kerb. The centre of the cairn has been disturbed exposing a well-preserved cist, 1.1m long, 0.52m wide and 0.43m deep. The coverstone has been displaced to the NE and the excavated spoil lies to the NW of the cairn. The Bronze Age cairn and cist, recorded by previous authorities, are visible as a structure and earthwork on Environment Agency 1m Lidar data flown in 2019 and 2021 Historic England orthomosaic aerial photography. The site was mapped from aerial sources in 2023 during the Historic England Dartmoor-Plym project.
