More information : (C SD 620999) Some time during or before 1946 men working about 1 mile S of Low Barrow Bridge Fort discovered a "Roman tombstone", which they immediately re-used to cover a culvert on the Roman road. The culvert has not been identified but one of the mendescribed the stone to Lt Col O H North in terms suggesting that it was one of a well known type, portraying a horseman riding down a barbarian and including an inscription which contained the letters "XX". The site of this find probably indicates the location of the fort cemetery. (1)
