Two BA cairns and a short stone row are recorded on the lower slopes of Leeden Tor. These three features are now under fairly dense gorse vegetation. The upper cairn is in poor shape with little more than half the mound in situ around the central cist. The surviving stones of the outer ring are now flat; the coverstone and southern end slab of the cist have gone. The lower cairn is well defined with much of its structure intact despite the presence of a central shallow pit. OS mapping indicates the presence of a short stone row extending from the south-east side of this lower cairn. This area is now hidden by bramble and gorse vegetation, therefore interpretation is difficult however it appears that at least some of the visible stones here lie in a slight gully- part of the natural rock sub-strata exposed by water erosion.

Two cairns.

A. A cairn containing the remains of a cist. The cairn is 18ft
diameter and 3ft high with the remains of a cairn circle. The cist
has one end stone and its cover missing (Plan)

B. A cairn, 24ft diameter, with no apparent cist or cairn circle. (2)

Scheduled by DOE (IAM) but description better fits SX 57 SE 46. (3)

SX 56437085. A short stone row runs away from the cairn on a north
to south alignment, 50.0m. long. (4)

A: A cairn measuring 7.2m. in diameter and 1.0m. in height with a few
retaining stones around the perimeter (see ground photograph).
The cairn has been dug away on the southwest side towards the centre,
exposing a cist 1.4m. long internally, 0.6m. wide and 0.4m. deep
(see ground photograph).

B: A turf-covered cairn measuring 7.0m. in diameter and 0.8m. in
height with a hollow in the top (see ground photograph) and a
shallow trench.

It is from the western edge of this cairn that an alignment of
stones can be traced for about 40m. in a southerly direction and
ending at a track or disused leat. At the northern end seven
protruding stones appear to represent a rather poorly set out double
row (see illustration plan). Thereafter stones occur in arbitrary
fashion and though it is possible to make pairs, all the stones are
simply protruding the turf, mostly from 2 to 5cms. and at the
southern end are well off the alignment and fall into no recognisable
pattern.

Scheduled The upper cairn is 10m in diameter and up to 0.8m high with a cist on the partially excavated south - west side. The lower cairn is 10m across and up to 0.9m high with a hollow in the centre.
Note the alleged stone row extending from this cairn is not mentioned (6)

Two BA cairns on the lower slopes of Leeden Tor. The upper cairn (8m x 1m) is a poor condition, with little more than half the mound still present around the central cist (see large scale drawing).The cover slab and south end stone have gone and all 6 or 7 remaining members of the outer ring are now flat. The lower cairn retains a good shape despite a shallow central pit and much of its structure is intact (8m x 1.4m). The OS map shows a stone row descending from its southern edge but the blocks here appear to be no more artifically arranged than many others scattered over the hillside. (7)
