Summary : A Roman altar was found c.1684 on the NE side of Kirkby Lonsdale churchyard, in a bank called Abbats Brow beside the River Lune. It is now lost.
More information : A Roman altar, over 3' high but lacking much of the left-hand side,
was found c.1684 on the NE.side of Kirkby Lonsdale churchyard, in a
bank called Abbats Brow beside the River Lune, and seen by Machell
in use as a seat in the High Street. Now lost.
