This is a pilar stone of 5th-11th century date. The text reads: `[G]U[.G]LE[S] where the bracketed letters are legible but unusual in form.Various readings of the text have been suggested, and it is presumably a personal name. The text uses insular script suggesting a date of the 8th-11th centuries. (5) |
