St. Dunstan`s Abbey, North Road, was begun in 1850 by William Butterfield, and is built of grey limestone with yellow stone dressings and bands in early English Gothic style around three sides of a courtyard. The Gothic entrance has a stone cross
set in a gable above. On the west side of the court is a two-storyed range with a central gable containing a two-light window with a buttress below. To the north is a cloister with the chapel behind. At the east end of the chapel is a three-storyed range with an oriel window on the south facade and a semi-circular staircase turret on the east side. (2)
