Summary : A sub circular earthwork enclosure, regarded as a possible henge, at Callington. The site enclosure comprises a ditch with outer bank, the two separated by a berm. Maximum internal diameter is 49 metres, maximum outer diameter is circa 96 metres. No internal features are visible, and no entrance or causeway through the earthworks is apparent. This lack of an entrance has been regarded as a barrier to interpretation as a henge, although alternative explanations are equally problematical given the lack of excavation. |
