More information : (SX 36345413) Dovecot (NAT). (1) The dovecot at Crafthole, a round tower of local stone with a single low entrance and a domed roof, is dated by Henderson to around the 14th century. DOE say the present structure is 17th century (Grade 2). According to Henderson, it was built by the Dawneys on the land of their tenants at Crafthole, well away from their manor house at Sheviock (SX 35 NE 13), although Kempthorne quotes a tradition that "an ancient dwelling" used to stand near the dovecot.
