More information : [SX 2554 7055] Cross (NR) (1) The "Longstone" or "Long Tom" as it is known locally, stands in situ marking the ancient ridgeway which crosses St Cleer parish (2). It is a much worn wheel-headed cross having small horizontal projections at the bottom of the head. Dimensions: width of head 2 feet 4 inches; width of shaft at neck 1 feet 10 inches and at ground level 2 feet 3 inches; height 9 feet 6 inches. (2-4) As described; it has a relief Greek cross on both faces. It is called "The Longstone" and it gives its name to the surrounding common (a).
Published survey is correct. (5) Depicted on NMR Bodmin Moor AP transcription.(6) Distinctive name - 'Longstone Cross'. Near but not beside any clearly defined moorland track. A fine wheel headed cross 3 metres high with a Greek cross in relief on each face of the head.
