More information : SX 12487275. A robbed cairn 20.0m in diameter and 0.4m high. The rim and a low disturbed interior are all that remains. Situated on high level downland. Located during field investigations and surveyed at 1:2500. Centred SX 12527274. Three stones lying on an east-west axis form a stone setting near and possibly associated with the above cairn. SX 1251872746: "x" 1.8m high. SX 1252272746: "y" leaning, 1.5m long. SX 1252672746: "z" recumbent, 1.6m long. Located during field investigation. Positioned on 1:2500. (1) The upright stone is of large proportions, but it is uncertain whether the others were ever upright. They do not form a 'setting' like the Exmoor examples. See illustration card. (2) Listed by Trehair as a "stone ring" disturbed within. (3) Cairn and stones on the crest of a hill at 256m O.D. in open moorland. The cairn and the three stone "setting" or alignment are as described by Authority 1. The cairn, which has been extensively mutilated, is not a "stone ring" (3).
A small orthostat 0.4m high and 0.6m wide stands to the south east of the cairn on the general line of the setting but this may be fortuitous rather than an extension of the line. In fair condition.
Surveyed at 1:2500. (4)
