More information : DMV at Garrow, SX 146780, showing clear pattern of earthworks recognisable as roads and croft boundaries, together with the shape of houses. A platform-house was chosen for excavation, a type which is still used in Cornwall today. The house had internal measurements of 48' by 11', consisting of a living room and a byre separated by a passage connecting with an entrance on each long side. The long axis of the platform was at right angles to the contours of the hillside, thus gaining considerable protection from the weather. Two features of the main building were a hearth with fireback placed centrally in the living room and the manger in situ in the byre. Near the house was a small barn, 26' by 14'. Pottery found on and around the site showed occupation from 13th to 15th cents. (1-4) SX 14587801. A group of five long houses and ancillary buildings orientated roughly E-W, on an E-facing slope at about 900ft above OD. They are up to 16.0m long and 50m wide overall, are subdivided, and are well preserved with walls averaging 1.5m high. Resurveyed at 1:2500.
