More information : (SW 9858 8039) Roscarrock Remains of Barton (NR) (1) Roscarrock, Grade II*, is an extensive and interesting group of buildings of E 16th c origin, refashioned at various dates. It is roughly quadrangular. The front range was refashioned in the 18th c. (2) Roscarrock Manor is as described and is well preserved. A number of interesting 16th century features are incorporated in the rear of the house and in buildings including a small corbelled well-house at SW 98588039. It is beehive shaped with sides 1.9 metres by 1.5 metres, and 1.5 metres high. (See SW 98 SW 2 for chapel at Roscarrock) (3) Site of culverhouse at Roscarrock listed. (4)
Late 15th or early 16th century house, constructed around courtyard. The original development of the plan is uncertain. The quality of the late 15th century roofs is outstanding and a rare survival. Grade I. (5) |
