THE OLD RECTORY

DESCRIPTION + /

The house known as the Old Rectory was built in 1851. The medieval moat is well preserved and was probably for drainage as much as defence. The old parsonage house was built and moated round with rivers and fishponds in the second half of the 15th century by John Arundell.
The Rectory was built as a bishop's palace in 1851 by William White (1825-1900) with a few later alterations.
