Summary : Church, with tower built in 1514 by Sir Edward Stanley Lord Monteagle, chancel incomplete at his death in 1524, nave rebuilt 1817, and arcades and clearstorey added 1889 by Paley and Austin. Sandstone ashlar. Comprises a west tower, nave and chancel under a continuous roof with clearstorey, and north and south aisles. The tower is octagonal on plan and of 3 stages, the 2 upper stages being set diagonally to the base. Anglo-Saxon cross fragments in tower (see SD 56 NE 11). |

St Margarets' Church, with west tower and polygonal apse at the east end, built 1514. The remainder of the church dates from 1817 and 1889. (See plan). Two Anglo-Saxon cross fragments are preserved in the tower (see SD 56 SE 11). (2)
