Summary : Medieval moated site with small moated outwork and connecting channels, surviving as earthworks.

Homestead moat near Camp House, Hornby-with-Farleton (no further
information given but see plan). (2)

The earthwork at SD 573676 "consists of a square mound of side
120 ft, surrounded by a composite wall of rough, small stones with
larger cemented stones underneath and with cobbles over clay
inside. This wall is surrounded by a ditch about 25' across
A further moat or ditch surrounds the first one but ... is
ill-defined ...." (3)

In fair condition. Published survey (25") revised. (4)

The moat is very well defined on air photographs but no trace of
secondary moat mentioned in Authy 3 is visible. (See also SD 56
NE 17). (5)

Site surveyed in 1978, revealing a small moated outwork, 8m across, NW of the main moat, connected via channels to the River Lune; surviving masonry on the platform and a hollow-way linking the moat to the main road to the east. (6)
