Summary : A bowl barrow situated on the eastern edge of a field, south of Hurlingbarrow. The barrow mound stands 2.9 metres high with a rounded appearance and has a slight central depression probably caused by part excavation. It has a diameter of 18 metres although it has been truncated on its eastern side by a track. There are no indications of a surrounding ditch. An urn was reported to have been excavated from this barrow although there are no further details. Scheduled. |
More information : (SW 72734872) Tumulus (NR). (1) A barrow recorded by Thomas as 'middle barrow', diameter 65ft. Worked flints from this barrow are in Warner's possession. (2-3) A slightly mutilated 2.9m high bowl barrow. Re-surveyed at 1:2500. (4) Round barrow, 8ft high and 50ft diameter in hedge line. Under gorse and long grass. The ditch is ploughed out on the field side. (5)
