Summary : Site of the manor of Truthall, recorded in the Domesday Book. The manor house was granted a licence to crenellate in 1335 and a chapel was licenced in 1387. Its site is said to be covered by the debris of West Wheal Fortune mine.
More information : The ancient manor of Truthall, Trewall or Tregewall (Truthwall named at SW 527323 on OS 1:10 000 1977), named 'Treiwal' in Domesday. The mansion at Truthall must have been of some importance as a licence to crenallate was obtained in 1335.

A chapel was licenced at "Treguwel in parochia Sancti Ludvoni" in 1387 and renewed in 1400. The site of this chapel is said to be covered by the debris of West Wheal fortune (SW 528325), and Borlase records the tradition of a chapel in 1770. (West Wheal Fortune was working in 1725, see SW 53 SW 18). (1-3)
