More information : Listed under barrows in Gulval parish (Now incorporated in Madron). (1) 'A' SW 43303529. Mound with some walling stones. 'B' SW 43313526. Mound. 'C' SW 43323524. Mound. 'D' SW 43353518, approximately; not found. Borlase records barrows 'A' and 'B' 200 yards NW of the circle and mentions that there was probably a cist in 'A' in the 18th century. (2). The VCH (3) follows Borlase but erroneously states 100 yards NW instead of 200 yards and it is this siting which constitutes Miss Russells' (1) barrow 'D'. (2-3) 'A': SW 43263530. A barrow up to 1.3m high, 14.0m overall diameter but with part of a retaining circle 10.0m in diameter. There is a central excavation pit and between this and the W edge is a flat stone 1.5m by 0.6m which may be the capstone of a cist. 'B' SW 43293525. A much robbed barrow 14.0m in diameter and barely 0.4m in height. 'C' SW 43303524. A mound of earth and stones 5.5m in diameter and 0.4m in height. Probably a barrow but unusually small. Surveyed at 1:2500. (4) Circle of stones which is sited to the area of above barrows, see plan (a). (5)
