More information : [SW 4355 2481] The Pipers (Longstones) [OE] (1) 'The Pipers' at Bolleit 'Excavations made under the tallest produced nothing'. (2) The Pipers of Boleigh, standing stones. Scheduled Ancient Monument. Listed under 'Burial Mounds and Megalithic Monuments'. (3) 'A' at SW 4348 2475, is the taller of the two, measuring 4.7m high and 0.9m square at the base. There are two longitudinal cracks down the NW side, and one down the SE side. See AO/60/340/1 (From the south). 'B' at SW 4355 2481, is 4.2m high and is of rectangular section, measuring 1.4m x 0.6m at the base. The stone leans to the NW. See AO/60/340/4 (from the north). (4) The Pipers (NAT) Standing Stones (NR) (5) Both stones were excavated by Borlase in 1871 with no result. (6) Scheduled under Magalithic Monuments. (7) The Pipers; both standing stones remain as described in 1960. Published 1/2500 survey correct. (8)
