Reinterpreted by the Monuments Protection Programme as the remains of a medieval moot and its surrounding quarry ditch. The circular mound stands 2.8 metres above the level of the surrounding ground and has a deep bowl-shaped depression 2 metres deep and 27 metres in diameter in the interior which served as the arena for debate and decision-making. Previously interpreted as the site of a Norman motte castle. (10) |
