Summary : A fragment of a Roman inscription probably from a Tombstone was found in a disused rubbish tip at the west end of New Quay Road, Lancaster in 1976. It is of 2nd century date.
More information : SD 462620. A portion of a Roman inscription, apparently a tombstone, was recovered by I Steward-Hargreaves and D Douglas from a disused rubbish tip at the west end of New Quay Road, Lancasterin 1976. The style of the inscription suggests a 2nd century date. (1)
