Summary : The Abbot of Garendon had a house or cell called Saint James in the Wall by Cripplesgate circa 1341, and monks of the house served as chaplains there. It was bought in 1543 and presented to the Clothmakers Company . It was demolished in 1825, (being replaced by the church at Wood Street Square, St Pancras), the 12th century crypt being removed to All Hallows Church, Staining.
