More information : (TQ 32381555) Tumulus (LB). (1)
A very low bowl or ring barrow situated at highest point of S end of Lodge Hill. Diameter 60ft with wide ditch on N, W and E. Depression in the centre. (2)
A bowl-barrow 17.4 metres in diameter and 0.5m in height. There is a large depression in the centre, and a patch of darker coloured grass around its N side probably defines the course of a ditch. The fact that the ground immediately S of the barrow slopes away sharply tends to exaggerate its size. (3)
Surveyed at 1:2500 (see TQ 31 NW 7). (4)
No change. (5)
The earthworks of this Bronze Age bowl barrow can be seen in lidar imagery and have been mapped as part of the Changing Chalk, Downs from Above Project. The barrow is about 18m in diameter with what appears to the be the earthwork remains of the ditch on its northern side. (6)
