An enclosure (c. 100 yds. x 30 yds.), known as Castle Hill, on the right bank of the Hogsmill. Defended on all sides, but the NW, with a rampart; there are traces of a ditch along the eastern face. [AO/LP/63/45]. (3-4)
A very substantial dam (now cut at each end), crosses the stream and is possibly the site of an 11th c. mill. A Roman brass coin found nearby (5).
