MONUMENT NO. 396462

DESCRIPTION + /

A bowl barrow sitauted on a chalk ridge which forms part of the Sussex Downs, 380 metres south east of Chanctonbury Ring hillfort. The barrow has a circular mound circa 11 metres in diameter, surviving to a height of up to 0.5 metres. The mound is surrounded by a ditch from which material used to construct the barrow was excavated. This has become infilled over the years, but survives as a buried feature circa 2 metres wide. The bowl barrow was possibly one of a group of barrows in this location of which only this one remains. Scheduled.
