Summary : A motte and bailey castle situated on rising ground overlooking a small valley to the south. The motte is visible as a flat-topped, sub-circular mound 46 metres in diameter and 5 metres in height above the prevailing ground level, encircled by a ditch up to 10 metres wide and open to a depth of between 2-3 metres. The bailey which adjoins the motte on the south side is sub-rectangular in plan, with a central platform measuring 53 metres east-west by 30 metres and raised up to 0.7 metres above the prevailing ground level. It is enclosed on the west, south and east sides by a ditch 13 metres in width and open to a depth of up to 2 metres below the external ground level. Scheduled. |

A conical mound 23ft high surrounded by a moat, still wet, and a rampart. To the S is a horse-shoe shaped bailey with enclosing ditch which has been levelled on the E. Probably the site of a castle. (2)
