St Helens Well

Summary : St Helen's Well has been filled in and walled round with a wall 1.2 metres square. The enclosed portion is uncovered and about 2 metres below the level of the wall can be seen the rubbish which lies on the filled-in area. A wooden canopy has been built over the well, but it has been badly mutilated and torn down in parts. The whole is surrounded by an iron railing.
More information : (SD 35450129) St Helen's Well (NR). (1) St Helen's Well. In the year 1891 the well was walled round and a handsome canopy placed over it. (2) St Helens Well has been filled in and walled round with a wall 1.2m square. The enclosed portion is uncovered and about 2 metres below the level of the wall can be seen the rubbish which lies on the filled-in area. A wooden canopy has been built over the well, but it has been badly mutilated and torn down in parts. The whole is surrounded by an iron railing. (3)
