From inspection of OS 6", remains of a large rectangular moat
can be seen at Lowerpark Farm. Parts of east and south sides missing
but extant portions probably water-filled. Gap in centre of west
side may be original entrance.
This feature is situated nearly centrally to what seems to have
been a large deer-park whose park-pale seems to be clearly outlined
by modern detail throughout almost its whole circuit.
The moat is as described by R1 and is wet. Published survey 25"
correct.
Perambulation of the suggested park pale did not produce any
substantiating evidence. (2)
