CHRISTCHURCH MANSION

DESCRIPTION + /

The present civic museum is on the site of the Augustinian Priory of the Holy Trinity , founded by 1133 and dissolved in 1536. The priory was burnt down and rebuilt in 1194. Some of the priory remains were incorporated into a house in 1548-50 which was extended in 1564, and partly rebuilt in 1674, after fire damage. The house is built of brick and has an E-shaped plan, and is now a public museum.
