More information : TL 99138177 Tumulus (NR) (1) A very steep sided barrow 12 ft high, 180 ft diameter, planted with young firs and evidence of a deep ditch around it. No hollow on top. Possibly Roman. Scheduled. (2) A ditched mound with a maximum overall diameter of 33.0m and a maximum height of 3.8; the ditch, which has been cut on the east by quarrying, has a maximum width of 4.5m and attains 0.8m in depth. The flat top shows no evidence of disturbance but the whole has been afforested some 25-30 years ago. Topographically the work is situated circa 35.0m above sea level with good all round visibility (prior to locally planted afforestation), and covers the original main Thetford-Diss highway (now the A1066).
