Moat (NR) (1)

Berdewell Hall moated. Demolished 1725. (2)

A later hall built on this site and shown on Authy 1 was
demolished 1931-2. (3)

There are no building remains at the published site which is now
occupied by gardens.

Of the former moat only the north-east water-filled arm is now
visible and it has a maximum width of 19.0m. The other arms have
been infilled and cannot be traced. Similarly the original inlet
and outlet cannot be identified.

Resurveyed at 1:2500. (4)

Although the monument is of historic interst, and some archaeological remains of the original medieval hall and moat may survive, it is evident that the site underwent extensive disturbance and alteration in the first half of the 18th century. Scheduling is not recommended. (5)
