Summary : Site of a Roman courtyard villa. A piece of mosaic pavement was found in 1749, and the area has produced Roman burials, coins, pottery and glass. Some of the burials may have come from 'a vault about 3 yards square paved with bricks about 9" square', containing burial urns and bones, found about 1780. Building foundations have been observed in drainage ditches. The site of the villa is indicated by a surface scatter of building debris.

A scatter of Roman occupation debris approximately 100.0m square associated with an established roman building (?villa) centred at TL 65101435. No traces of foundations were seen and no further finds have been made by the farmer. Centre of scatter surveyed at 1:2500. (4)

Considered by English Heritage to survive in good condition below the ploughsoil. (9)

ES 57 Listed as the possible site of a large courtyard villa. (10)
