More information : TL 646018. A surface scatter of Roman building material including fragments of box flue, roofing and floor tiles, and a small amount of pottery has been found over a wide area, although excavations for a line of power poles across the field in 1955 revealed nothing and debris along the boundaries of Box Wood and Well Wood to the east and west of the field was apparently deposited here recently by the farmer. Roman tile fragments, including pieces of box and roof tile scattered over wide area in this field. There seem to be two concentrations of about 30.0m across at TL 64600183 and TL 64610171. No pottery was found. (3)
