More information : [NT 91403574] Camp [L.B.] (1) A well-preserved redoubt erected by the Scots in 1513. It was at the end of their entrenchment (now occupied by a shooting ride) which appears to have extended westwards for 500 yds. to another similar redoubt, which is almost ploughed out. [Plan of second earthwork reproduced on O.S. 6" 1st. Edn.] (2) [NT 90933561] Second redoubt visible as crop-mark. (3) Correctly described. The first earthwork is intact, apart from minor mutilation caused by modern tracks. Published survey (25") revised. There are no identifiable remains of the second redoubt, or of the connecting entrenchment, the area between having been re-afforested. (4) Condition unchanged. See NT 93 NW18 for the 1/2500 survey of the redoubt & the surrounding bivallate earthwork. (5)
