Bishop's Gate (formerly Abbot's Gate) Grade 1. Mainly built about 1220 by Robert of Lindsay. It is three storeys high with two
crenellated turrets. Each has a niche containing a statue of an
abbot and prior. The centre is gabled containing a statue of
King Edward. The room above the entrance is known as the
Knights' Chamber. The windows have been altered in Jacobean
