Summary : Possible Medieval holy well incorporated into a grotto during the mid 18th century.

Near the old Manor House at Longthorpe is a holy well. Included in
Morton's list of Holy Wells. (2-3)

The holy well is a natural spring which has been incorporated into a
17/18th century grotto. The spring feeds the adjacent fish ponds,
TL 19 NE 28. See 1:2500 survey. (4)

The spring has been incorporated into a garden layout, perhaps early
18th century. (5)

Sir John Bernard was probably responsible for the construction of the well in the mid 18th century. Further historical details. (6)
